Wendy Drummond

Wendy Drummond describes herself as a ‘recovering technologist’… a right brain/left brain… and right brain again, survivor! After having started her career in fibre arts in the late 70’s, life determined a thirty-year hiatus in the field of technology so she could provide for her family. Carrying her passion in a promise, it has only been the last 8 years that she has had an opportunity to return to her first love, working with her hands, heart and fibre. Picking up the threads of her past creative endeavours, she now incorporates her passion for textiles – fibre, colour and texture – with stories and experiences collected during her absence from the fibre art world.

Inspired by a tactile, warm and nurturing love of fibre Wendy’s statement pieces, clothing and accessories are embedded with stories. Working with natural and legacy fibres, each piece expressive and unique, represents her commitment to sustainable natural fibres and the promotion and advocacy of the local fibre community.

Wendy works out of her Three Stone Soup Fibre Studio in Lund, BC and has been instrumental in the arts and advocacy of the slow fashion/slow clothes movement on the upper Sunshine Coast. She is one of the organizers and contributing artists to the annual eCouture Fashion Show; project coordinator of Fibre Space – a community drop-in workspace for those interested in learning about all things fibre; an instructor and host of a series of University Continuing Studies courses relating to building awareness about fashion consumer choices; and has recently joined her two partners in opening eunoia fibre studio & gallery, Powell River, BC, committed to using local, natural, regenerative and found textiles and materials in every piece of locally made clothing and accessories.
