In a workshop studio setting students will learn the fundamentals of basketry building with long leaf dry pine needles. All supplies will be provided so that you will be able to continue working after you leave. Beginner students will work on a small cup size basket developing their skill at shape forming. Each student progresses at their own speed so the completed size of their piece will vary. Those students who have already taken the beginner workshop or have done some pine needle work previously can build on their skills by working on a more complicated shape. Similar to working in clay, the artist has to hand build their basket creating the desired shape as you build. Each students work will be unique and personal. All art is individual and what makes art a wonderful experience is that it is the process not the product that is exhilarating. The end result is the gift we take with us of the journey we experienced in the making.
