Out of the Woods

The woods, the forest, the bush, however you refer to these amazing timberlands we live amongst here on the beautiful west coast, we all seem to have a similar experience when we enter into these moss filled havens: we see the depths of varying shades of green, hear the sounds of streams, birds singing, the rustle of leaves in the wind, smell the earth, moss and nurse tree’s that bring new life, the woods caress us and regenerate us…

When we first discussed this joint exhibit it was at the end of a long summer and I for one was tired, I had not been to my “church”, the forest to just quietly explore for 7 long weeks, I was at a loss for words to describe what I wanted our exhibit to convey.

I now know this is what we want you to see when you look at these woven and turned objects, we want you to see our love for the colour of the bark, the grain of the wood, the knots, the natural edges, the textures, the roots, the pores, the fibres, the density, the growth rings.

We want you to see the passion we pour into each piece that we make by hand, these creations that have come “Out of the Woods”.
