Context forms the basis of an idea and clarifies the meaning of work. Members of the Sunshine Coast Surface Design Association hope bringing their contemporary work “Out of ConTEXT” will promote curiosity and dialogue about how ideas are developed, articulated and brought to completion using diverse styles.

This exhibition will embrace wordplay through the use of colour, texture and pattern. While our work is grounded in traditional, time-honoured methods we strive to push beyond previous boundaries, exploring evolving modes of expression as well as new technologies and media.

We are honoured to be able to present an SDA Award of Excellence to the work that best exemplifies creative and innovative applications of surface design. The award will be presented at the opening reception.
