Jennifer Love

Jennifer creates abstract paintings using collaged hand-painted and printed fabrics and papers.

Layering – of colours, of patterns and textures, of fibres and stitches, of references gleaned from nature and human culture – this is at the core of her art practice. She is particularly interested in intersections, disruptions and reversals where positive and negative space, natural and man-made patterns, order and randomness have an opportunity to coexist and interact.

Her current work is inspired by issues of memory and selfhood.

Attending the Textile Arts program at Capilano College was a life-changer for Jennifer. Since then she has endeavoured to spend as much time in her studio as possible.

She is a passionate advocate for textile arts and was for many years the coordinator for the Sunshine Coast Surface Design group. For ten years she was the Representative for BC for the Surface Design Association (SDA), an international organization that promotes awareness and appreciation of textile-inspired art and design. In July 2018 she moved to Gibsons, BC, but hopes to continue to share her inspiration, methods and joy for art by teaching workshops at FibreWorks.
