Intro to Rug Hooking with Lory Reynolds & Janet Perry

Slow Sunday Series – April 24, 2022

12pm–4pm

This workshop is now full. To put your name on a waitlist please contact the gallery.

Rug hooking can be traced back to the early settlement days in Newfoundland and has become a popular textile art form and pastime in Canada.

This introductory class will share examples from both the traditional Cheticamp styles typical of the early Acadians, and some more modern free form ones. Each participant will be provided with a hoop, a hook, and variety of fabrics and yarns to create a small project of their own design. Participants will learn the simple looped stitch that all hooking is done with.

By the end of the four hours we hope you will have a finished piece to take home, and that you will be be hooked on hooking! Please bring sharp scissors, a black sharpie, and a t-shirt you can cut up to include in your project.
