Batik, Indigo Vats and Blooms

The sunshine at FibreWorks is creating a wonderful setting for the last week of “Me and My Shadow” – the batik exhibition by Edna Cers of Sweden. Edna will be at the gallery on Saturday and Sunday, September 08 and 09 to speak about her work.

Today and tomorrow – Wednesday and Thursday – the decks at FibreWorks are “Singing the Blues” with indigo dye vats. Ros Aylmer is creating the blue magic in two large vats – one a ferrous indigo vat – and students are bringing skeins of yarns or pieces of cloth (or small articles of clothing) to experience the colour changes. There are a few spaces left in the Thursday session – beginning at 10:00 a.m. $60 plus HST.

Yvonne and Julie are finishing their exhibition pieces and planning the installation opening “Bloom Where You Are Planted” on Saturday, September 15th – with artists reception beginning at 2:00 p.m. The artists have designed and created pieces inspired by their physical environment – rural and urban. The exhibition of colour and texture continues through to November 11th.

See you at the yurts!
