“A Fine Line” – Fibre Art Voices

March 31–May 13

Fibre Art Voices is a group of eight textile/mixed media artists in the mid-Island area. We meet once a month for critique, plus once a month for what we call “play day” where we venture into various techniques. We have fabric dyers, nuno and needle felters, silk fusion and paper enthusiasts, hand stitchers, machine stitchers, embellishers, etc. The group started informally in 2006 to try different techniques. It was around 2010 that this small group decided to get more serious about promoting textile art to counter a claim by some “fine” artists that we are “just a craft.” As fabric artists, we are committed to developing original designs including suitable materials.
